Check out the new header

I finally found a picture that I think captures my idea for this blog. These are some tags that I am working on for a different project. But I was having some really good luck taking some photos and thought I would take pics of what I have been working on. These and some of the ones below are what I have been busy with.
The last week has been mostly tag work. Making several smaller tags for a bigger project. I am looking for kitchen ephemera to make a big piece that will be an abc's for the kitchen. I am looking at using things that you would just through away anyway. I like the idea of making art with recycled materials. But I am new to that idea so I will let the work go where it wants to go.

I will post some pics later tonight (technical difficulties and all of that)

Random Headstones

The girls and I went exploring today. We finally found the Eugene Masonic Cemetary. This cemetary is on the Natiotional Registar of Historic Places. So, of course, I found it interesting.

And it was. This cemetary is in the hills and almost over grown. I fell in love with the walking paths and the peeks of the city through the trees. It was very beautiful.

So the first pic is of a headstone that has chinese. If you know what this says, Please let me know!!!

This next photo is of a head stone that was at the back of the cemtetary, almost lost. I felt as though I absolutly had to take that photo.

Because this is where the city founders, or at least a large number of them are buried, this became a history lesson for the girls. This is a photo of the founder of the city.

I also made two cards today. They will become part of a set.

Been Busy

Thought I would go back to my traditional purple. I remember in seventh grade I think, all of the new clothes I bought for school were purple. I loved those clothes. I can remember most of them. That is really sad.

Anyway, below you will find what I have been working on. A beautiful set of cards, all tied up and ready to go. And a set of tags. Also ready to go. So if you want them leave me a comment and let me know how to get a hold of you. I also am posting stuff on craigslist. Card sets are going for $7 ($10 for the fancier sets). I still don't know what to charge for the tags.

I think that is all for today. Like I said, leave me a comment and I think we can work something out.

July 7th 2007

Not a whole lot going on. Just trying to find a summer routine that works for everyone. Which is harder than it looks. Here is an interesting tidbit: with three kids in very different age groups, finding common ground is impossible.

We will be moving into a very crazy time in the next week. Sissy play starts production week next week. That means five hours of rehearsal a night for at least five nights. I will be joining her on those nights. I will be tired at the end of the week.

Here is a pic of a card I am working on. It is actually going to be part of a set. I plan on making several sets of four cards. The sets will incluse a birthday, a thank you and a Hi card and then one sort of random card. The plan is to sell them for $5 a set or so. I am still trying to get this off the ground.

I am in the process of researching the possibility of creating my own studio. Actually I want a community art center. There are places here that offer classes and space to work. But I find that they are very expensive and that the average person can't afford them. Especially now, with the economy tanking. I would like very much to make a space for people to come and use art as a way to heal. I know other cities have them. Now, I will be the first to admit that I am not
entirely sure what I want. But I can picture it harkening back to the art center Baker city Oregon had while I was growing up. So, if you have any ideas about how to get started, or if you like to show your support of this idea in some other way, let me know.

Peace

July 4th

Not a whole lot to share with you all today. But I realy want to make sure that if I still have any readers (or if I had any in the first place) that they know that my hubby has started his own blog. My hubby is a great cook. Unbeliavably good. He will blog about the wonderful things he has made. Today I think the topic is veggie ribs.

I will try to be better about posting. But right now I am still making some changes to my outlook on some things. That said, I am unsure if the nature of this blog will change.

Anyway, Happy fourth all.
