things I have seen the last couple of days

Let me start off by saying the last few days have been very very stressful for me. I am dealing with some personal stuff, and I started a great new job. But, the biggest problem has been my alergies are working over time. So anyway, I thought I would just post some photos of stuff I have seen lately, with captions.

Little Bit doing homework in the public library this afternoon. She has taken to carrying around the pink pouch full pencils every homework day. i think there are 20 pencils in there.

This is how Sissy takes pictures now. This is a new phase of not letting me see her face.

This is just a pick tree downtown. I think the pink blossoms are what are killing me.

This is a turkey on the neighbors roof. The neighbor is behind us and slightly downhill. I looked out the slider while helping Little Bit do her homework and there it was. Today while driving the girls to school I saw two more walking down the street.

This is an alley downtown. It was so pretty. The houses along this street were very country cottage like. Just one of the things I love about this place.
Peace ,

It sure was...

A wacky Wednesday. We have a leak somewhere in the plumbing around the washing machine that is leaking all over the garage. We are currently waiting for a plumber.

I couldn't use the washer, so I made the above pretties instead. They are just simple and fun felt pencil toppers. I expect that I will be expanding on that concept in the near future. I already have some ideas floating around in my head.

We went to the library, of course. I found a book on composting. And vegitarian cookbook. The pic of Stinky is of what she does when we go to the library. She has to hold the door and she has to push the button on the elevator. Although today she did go down the stairs. She can't help it. These are her "things" and we just try to run with it.

I did get my 52 projects book and am looking through it and picking out some good ones. I think that I will need a couple of days to catch up and get my ducks in a row, before I leap into even more things I need to keep track of. And if I don't post for a couple of days that is why. I want to keep up on thi silly little blog though. It helps clear my mind. That cold from a week ago is still playing havoc on me and I am exhausted. So I feel cluttered.
Anyway, the plumber is here.

So when my head explodes....

Only two of us in this house are not sick. I am not one of them. One of the well ones is very bouncy. It has been a long day.

On the plus side, we did go to the library. I know I have said it before, Wednesday is library day. I try to stick to it no matter what, because it is a break every week. I love the public library here. The childrens section is huge and very welcoming. Because it is in a seperate part of the library (away from where the stodgy grownups are) the kids can be kids. The staff is starting to know that we come in every Wednesday and they aer super friendly. Anyway, we went today and I just sat on the floor with the girls playing with a big puzzle. I was pretty out of it.

I even worried if I would be able to work on my project today. Fortunalty, the project kind of worked on itself. (Sorry for the vagueness here, but like I said yesterday, I want to be sure this works the way I want).

So the point to the above is... on the way home from a mentally foggy trip to the library the following pictures are of what I saw on the road. The first is of a jacket or shirt of some sort that was just draped over a utility post thing. The second is a work glove lying in the middle of the road. Why does this seem important? Because 1) they were a block away from each other and 2) I find discarded articles of clothing odd. I assume the shirt was left by a new years reveler probably around 2 am on the first of January. The glove threw me for a loop. I don't tend to set things aside and forget them, and I don't tend to drop things. So this is a "thing" that catches my attention.

p.s. I ordered my own copy of 52 projects. I can't wait until I get it

Library Day

Lets start with a random santa.

Wednesday, or Wacky Wednesday as the school calls it, is an early release day for the girls. We use the extra hour to go to the city library. And, really, nothing much happens on Wednesdays. That hump day thing really seems to get me. I am usually just wiped out at the middle of the week.

I was so wiped out that I didn't take any pictures at all today. Fortunalty, I have something like 5000 photos on my laptop. I am sure that I can find something to throw in here today.

I did some work, weaving. Much harder than I thought it would be. I am not even working on a big loom, just a little hand loom, that I made. But it is still physically more work than I thought it would be. I may go back to felt sooner than I thought.

The problem is, I start thinking that if I can figure out the technical aspect of anything then I can apply that to another medium. What else can I weave? Can I weave a different material into what I am working on? If I use a light weight something as warp (or weft, I forget), can I use a heavier something with it? These are questions that I am sure weavers know the answers to, but I don't, not yet, anyway.

No bites on the local posting. But I did have a weird thought. You know how there are garage bands? What about a garage gallery show. More for the artists or crafts persons who are struggling to find a gallery or niche or whatever. If I do anything with that little idea, it will be in the spring. Now it is too cold and my garage is full of furniture and stuff for the dump.
